Book Review: The Pope by L.P. Lovell

The Pope is part of the Cards of Love conglomeration of stories. I was excited after reading the blurb and it did not disappoint.  It's a dark, angsty story that kept me wanting more.  The author has created a seedy underworld of vengeance, debts and dirty confessions with an antihero who surprised me at every turn of the page.  . 

Delilah Thomas had always been a good girl until she decides to rebel against her father. She changes her college major and starts dating bad boy Nathan Hewitt. Nathan brings her in on his drug business. It's all fun and games until Delilah's best friend dies.  She blames herself into a drunken oblivion and eventually finds herself repenting for her sins. What she doesn't know is that it's Satan listening to her confession and waiting for her to join him in the darkness.

Judas (Kingsley) Kavanagh is a priest with a dark, unexpected secret. "For even satan disguises himself as an angel of light." He can't let Delilah go. He wants her confession. He wants her.

I really enjoyed Judas and Delilah's story. Judas maybe the antithesis of a good man but he will protect the ones he loves. The ending left me wanting more! 5 Stars

Book Review: Bad by Stevie J. Cole & L.P. Lovell

True power is never held by good men, only the most perfect of villains. And she and I are both villains…

I stole her from her precious cartel, and now she's my pretty little pawn. She should fear me, but she doesn't. I'll have to teach her…

I put a gun to her head and she holds a knife to my throat. Round and round we go, inviting the sickness that consumes us both. We play our twisted game with sweet threats and cruel promises, neither backing down. I crave her madness in the most depraved ways.

Bad is a stand alone however Ronan and Camilla both appear in the Wrong Series. I enjoyed the Wrong series. Bad not as much, it felt a bit theatrical. There's plenty of strategy, blood, violence and more blood that was a bit over-the-top.

Players:
Ronan Cole is the bad Russian mobster from the Wrong series who has his own agenda.
Camilla Estrada is the sister to Gabriel Estrada, the leader of the Juarez cartel.

Ronan and Camilla have a thirst for power and blood. Although Camilla is the captive she's much like a lotus flower, pretty and deadly. Their power struggle only intensifies their sexual tension. However Ronan has other plans in progress and Camilla is a distraction he can not afford. The ending is a cliff hanger leaving us with a game of Russian roulette. 3 Stars  

Book Review: Wire by L.P. Lovell & Stevie J. Cole

Wire is book three in the Wrong Series. Jude and Tor are back with the addition of their daughter. This story has one speed, full throttle. Hold on tight because you're in for an intense, dark and twisted roller coaster ride. The ending left my eye twitching. 

They had been living happily for two years with their daughter but it was only a reprieve, the calm before the storm.

"But monsters rarely ever get a fucking fairy tale...and I know that."

  

An American, A Colombian and A Russian walk into a bar and all hell breaks loose. Jude hasn't given up his old ways, he's now working with Gabriel the leader of the Juarez cartel. Jude continues to launder dirty money but the difference is he now does it as a ghost. Well, that's until his past catches up to him and the Russians join the party.

"I'm having to choose between the two people I love most in the world and it breaks my heart. But ultimately there is no choice. It's Cayla, It will always be Cayla." 

Tor has a new focus. She's now a mother and will do anything to protect her daughter. Even bargain against her husbands life. She's a woman on a mission and she will fight to the end. My heart hurt for her struggle.

This story is intense. Nail biting! I read it in one day because I couldn't put it down. The ending leaves us up in the air. I'm ready for the next book! Give me! Give me! 5 Stars

Book Review: Five Rules by L.P. Lovell & Stevie J. Cole

How many days does it take to lose yourself? To forget what you once were? Day five and I don’t even know who I was before Tobias and Preston. Perhaps nothing more than a lost little lamb wandering aimlessly through life. But now I’m their little lamb, their sweet Ella. I belong to the two men who I want to own me, who defile my body and mind in the most tempting of ways. I crave their sin…but it’s all a game, isn’t it? A game of morality and deceit, of perversion and greed. They make me do things I never thought I would, they have me at their mercy with every touch, each kiss.

All I want to do is please them. I fear what I’ll become in the end, their little monster, their rabid wolf with blood-stained teeth.

I have no idea where this story is going. It’s twisted and dark. I probably can’t say twisted enough. It’s the fifth day and the sex is still out of control. Fantasies be damned compared to this installment. I think I need a cold shower after reading Five Rules. The story continues to boggle my mind. The fifth challenge left me saying WTF? I think the authors love torturing us with eye-twitching cliffhangers.

Book Review: Four Strikes by Stevie J. Cole & L.P. Lovell

Four days. It’s only been four days and I’m no longer certain of who I am. Right and wrong, does such a thing exist in the corrupt world of the sexy billionaires Tobias Benton and Preston Lucas? I don’t believe they do. The call themselves superior. They call me their little lamb, and they make me do terrible things.

This series has EXPLODED! I can't even! Four Strikes is the fourth in The Game Series and the most provocative. It's time for another test but first there's a reward.

The story continues with poor little Ella receiving a reward for her last successful test. What a reward she receives! Tobias and Preston heat up the pages, setting them on fire with their reward. The next test gives Ella some difficulty. In the end, Ella is introduced to three and Tobias is struggling with the game. 

There are so many questions. Who is three and what is the true final outcome of the game? Can LP Lovell and Stevie J. Cole please give Ella more rewards!! This story is so twisted! 5 Stars

Book Review: Two Guys by L.P. Lovell & Stevie J. Cole

Two Guys is the second book in The Game Series. Hold on tight because The Game Series has gotten darker, so much darker. The suspense is killing me! The unanswered questions from the previous installment are only intensifying.

The authors are playing with our heads! They are taunting us. During day two Tobias and Preston play head games with Ella and in the end she's given two choices but really for Ella there is only one. There are continued reminders that it's only a game. I only hope Ella hasn't already lost.

I'm loving this series but seriously I wish it was weekly instead of bi-weekly. The next book in the series, Three Players, releases March 24th. I can only imagine what comes next!

Review: Absolution by L.P. Lovell, Stevie J. Cole

I’m not sure what the hell I just read! It’s dark, it’s dangerous, it’s insane and it’s also amazingly a romance.  LP Lovell and Stevie J Cole have taken dark romances to a new level. Oh yeah, there’s also a freaking crazy twist I didn’t see coming.

Can two evils make a right?

I honestly can say I don’t know where to start. Ezra is a mob pimp and also a sadistic bastard. He’s has two operations, women who work the streets and ‘elite’ escorts that he trains to cater the less civilized. He was raised for this position. 

Evelyn (Evie) is a broken ‘little killer’. She strikes vengeance against men  and justify her acts because in her mind they are evil. She prays for forgiveness however when she finds Ezra, she finds her absolution.   

“I feel trapped in a never-ending cycle of sin and penance, and Ezra is both: my sin and my penance.”

Throughout the story Evie struggles with her conscious regarding Ezra, he is evil but she is obsessed with him and find herself worshiping him. Although Ezra knows that Evelyn is capable of hurting him, he continually pushes her, wanting to break her. Ezra soon becomes her protector, and he too is obsessed.

The story is brilliantly dark and twisted. Ezra and Evelyn are not your traditional romance couple. You will need to keep an open mind and expect the unexpected. 5 "What did I tell you about asking questions, Evie?" Stars!
