UC COVER CS

Blurb
Halfway through her first year on the job, Melissa Montclair decides the best part of teaching is winter break.
And the best part of break is the Perfect Ten she meets in a bar on New Year’s Eve. Why not celebrate a semester under her belt with a Perfect Ten in her pants? The one night affair is all she hoped for, until she walks into school a week later and sees Mr. Ten is Student Twenty-nine on her roll call.
She should be mortified—and she is—but that doesn’t stop her from banging him again. And again.
And again.
So much for job security.
Posing as an exchange student at Hamilton High is finally the assignment Officer Spence Vega has been hoping for. Now he has a shot at getting to the bottom of the town’s recent molly epidemic. There’s only a couple of problems: first, history is taught by the curvy bombshell he banged on New Year’s. Second, his growing suspicion is that she’s the dealer he’s looking for.
The job was supposed to be an easy in-and-out, not the teacher.
If only they could stop getting under the covers, staying undercover would be so much easier.

She has just allowed Jake Reed, the lead singer of rock band Inkjet, to undress her and tie her to a chair backstage after a show, only to have him leave to go sign autographs.

It is the start of a dark, obsessive relationship that will lead Lex, a 20-something public relations professional from L.A., to lose herself almost entirely as she struggles to break through her sexual boundaries without falling in love with Jake, an intimidatingly gorgeous Hollywood actor/rock star who closely guards his emotions.

What starts as a series of casual hookups ends up a powerful addiction that will push Lex past all her sexual boundaries as Jake moves repeatedly in and out of her life, making few promises along the way. Lex fights to keep a sense of herself while she succumbs to Jake’s glamorous world and his irresistible allure.

Author Bio:

Elisabeth Joye used to write about Congress. Now, she writes about sex. A former political journalist, she’s wanted to write a romance novel since she was 12 and finally found the inspiration to do it by incorporating her love of concerts and musicians. Invisible Ink is her first self-published novella.

Elisabeth’s philosophy when writing romance is simple – she writes what she thinks is hot and hopes others will, too. She wants to create characters who speak, act and fall in love like real people with issues, flaws and fears. But, above all, the sex is got to be hot.

When she’s not writing, Elisabeth is a stay-at-home mom to her four-year-old son. She loves fangirling her favorite celebrities and reading true crime obsessively. She didn’t have a smartphone until 2013 and now couldn’t live without social media and text messaging. She lives in the Midwest with her husband and family.

Excerpt

“So you’re in love with him, right?” Sammi asked as soon as I finished telling her the story of my recent activities with Jake. We were at the pool, soaking in the sun and sipping those cocktails that you don’t realize are getting you drunk until it’s too late.

Drunk Sammi was an expert at putting her old reporter skills to good use.

“In love with him?” I avoided eye contact, put my blonde locks up in a bun and played with the straps on my bikini. “No. It’s not like that. He’s not even in L.A. right now.”

“Well, you should see your face when you talk about him these days,” she said, taking a sip from her pink straw. “You’re in so much trouble, Lexi. I hope you don’t get pregnant.”

I laughed. “We always use a condom, Sammi, You know about his manwhore ways.”

“Exactly. My point exactly,” she said.

Since our night together that turned into a morning together, Jake had been traveling non-stop preparing for another new project. Other than his random text messages, which kept me entertained on fall afternoons when stuck at my desk, I tried not to think about him. He wasn’t around. I didn’t want to waste time missing him.

I struggled, however, because as the months passed since our first hookup, he was more and more popular in the press, his face in magazines, in the tabloids and his name on the lips of people that hadn’t even heard of him a year ago.

But we weren’t anything serious. We were just a sex thing.

I stirred my drink with the straw and thought about Sammi’s “love” comment for a long time, staring up at a the palm tree over my head. “When I’m with him,” I said. “It’s like…the real world doesn’t exist. Thoughts don’t exist.”

Sammi sighed and flipped from her back to her stomach.

“Trouble,” she said.

* * *

It was 11 p.m. and my phone buzzed next to me in bed. I was half asleep and rolled over to glance at the screen.

"I must have done something wrong in a past life."

Another weird text from Jake. I could never be never sure he meant them for me.

He was thousands of miles away telling me he had a bad day. Or maybe he had one in a past life?

"I must have been a crooked lawyer or a dentist or something," he said.

I pictured him lying in bed alone with his phone and found myself missing him. I shook the thought away.

"What’s wrong?" I asked back.

"It was a long day."

"Why?"

He didn’t write back for a few minutes.

"I just shouldn’t try to debate things with people when I’m exhausted," he wrote. He wasn’t joking or charming me. Maybe he had actual human emotions?

“What happened?” I wrote back, trying a third time to get him to tell me.

"Send me a pic of u," he said.

Of course. Of course he asked for a fucking picture.

"Only if you tell me you know for sure who this is," I typed back.

"U doubt I know who this is?" he said. "Your name rhymes with S-E-X."

I laughed out loud.

"And you taste great."

"Ok, keep going," I typed. I could be bolder on the phone than I ever could be in person with him. I didn’t have to look into his eyes on the phone. Or risk him touching me and making me forget what air was.

"Don’t get greedy," he wrote back.

Silence for a long time, then the phone buzzed again.

"Where’s my pic?"

I didn’t respond.

"Ok. I’ll play. You’re a good way to calm myself down,” he wrote.

An unlikely compliment from him. I felt uneasy. Before he could type back anything else, I stripped off my shirt and snapped a topless selfie on the bed. After I cropped it and colored it the way I wanted, I pressed send.

"Now I don’t feel so calm," he said back. "Goodnight."

I stared at the phone for a minute and then at the ceiling for another half hour.

Exhausted from tossing and turning, I clicked the screen back to life.

"Now I can’t sleep so you owe me,” I wrote.

* * *

A few days later, a book arrived at my apartment. It was a collection of outdoor photography, no words, only gorgeous pictures. Tucked inside, a typed note.

"Next time you can’t sleep, look at this and remember beauty is everywhere. – J"

I wondered how many other girls his assistant had sent this book to over the years. Still, I smiled to myself there in my kitchen.

Invisible Ink is a short dark story centered on an uncontrollable, undeniable obsession. I got lost in Lexi and Jake. Their obsession and need pulled me in.
Jake is a Hollywood actor/rock star playboy who is incapable of opening up his heart. However, he finds himself drawn to Lexi from when they first met. They share a connection but Jake makes no promises. Overtime Lexi is consumed and lose herself in Jake. He takes over her life. Wow, this book will draw you in and rattle your perceptions. Lexi has an instant attraction to Jake.  Jake feeds Lexi’s obsession with his overpowering need. He’s drawn to her like a magnet. The story takes a dark turn with their connection becomes over powering. The story is sexy, dark and consuming. 4 1/2 Stars.

So, are you ready for your MONSTER SCREW??

About Screwed:

I’m young, fit, attractive, and loaded. Not to mention I’m packing a sizable bulge below the belt. It’s a combination that drops panties on a regular basis.

Yay, me, right?

But my cock, troublemaker that he is, has been confined to my trousers by my business partner. A concession I agreed to, and one that’s never been hard to enforce until Emery moves in across the hall. She’s smart, young, determined, and sexy as hell. I want a taste. I won’t stop until I’m buried deep inside the succulent new-in-town brunette.

After being warned about my past, she does her best to steer clear, but I’m about to show her that underneath it all, I’m a guy with a heart of gold and a cock of steel.

My name is Hayden Oliver, and this is my story.

About Monster Prick:

Over my dead body.

That's what I told Gracie when she informed me of her plan to pick some random guy she met online to get rid of her pesky virginity.

If anyone is touching her, it's going to be me.

I shouldn't even be considering it, but I can't get it out of my head: her, under me, begging me.

***

Arrogant. Cocky. Prick.

Those are the words I'd use to describe my older brother's dangerously handsome best friend.

When he learned of my plan to kick off my white cotton briefs, ditching my good girl persona once and for all by losing my virginity to the first eligible bachelor I could find, he flipped out. Said over his dead body.

He says if anyone's going to do it, it's going to be him.

I hate that I'm even considering his offer.

But I am ... I sooo am.

Ever since he suggested it, all I can think about is his cocky smile on those full lips as he's driving in to me.

But if we cross that line ... will I ever be able to go back?

MONSTER PRICK, a sexy romantic comedy, is a spin off novella from SCREWED, but can be read as a standalone, as it features a new couple.

Book Review: First Touch by Laurelin Paige

First Touch (First and Last, #1)

When Emily Wayborn goes home to visit her mom while on hiatus from her hit TV show, she receives a voicemail from her former best friend, Amber. Though the two were once notorious party girls, they haven't spoken in years. Although the message might sound benign to anyone else, Amber uses a safe word that Emily recognizes, a word they always used to get out of sticky situations during their wild days. And what's more chilling than the voicemail: it turns out that Amber has gone missing.

Determined to track down her friend, Emily follows a chain of clues that lead her to the enigmatic billionaire Reeve Sallis, a hotelier known for his shady dealings and play boy reputation. Now, in order to find Amber, Emily must seduce Reeve to learn his secrets and discover the whereabouts of her friend. But as she finds herself more entangled with him, she finds she's drawn to Reeve for more than just his connection to Amber, despite her growing fear that he may be the enemy. When she's forced to choose where her loyalty lies, how will she decide between saving Amber and saving her heart?

First, I was completely in love with Laurelin's last series. I couldn't wait for her next book and she did not disappoint.

After reading the blurb I hadn't expected the book to be dark. I absolutely loved it. Emily discovers her best friend , Amber, is in trouble and can't be found. She takes matters into her own hands and seeks out answers from the last person she was with, Reeves Sallis.

I felt like a voyeur watching the truth unravel, from their dark and twisted past Emily and Amber share, to their addictions and co-dependencies. Reeves Sallis is a mystery, his past, his present and his thoughts. He is all Alpha, controlling and dark. The relationship that develops between Emily and Reeves is intense and down right salacious. Emily is with him for answers but she soon discovers more then she bargains for.

The story quickly pulled me in and trapped me. There is a cliffhanger that leaves you excited for the next book. 5 Intense Stars!

(Quick note, I won this ARC from another fabulous author CD Reiss. If you enjoy reading Laurelin Paige's books, you'll absolutely love CD Reiss.)

Excerpt:

I talked to my parents. To Tanner. To Shane. My voice fades off as the disbelief I have to take stock and let him know the damage control Ive done takes hold. Unsure how to respond to me when hes always so sure, he just nods his head as our eyes hold steadfast. I just dont know...My voice is so soft, it sounds so very different than the storm of anger that rages inside me, and yet I cant find it within me to show my emotions. I can feel his fingers tense from my comment, see his Adams apple bob from the forced swallow, and notice the tick of muscle as he clenches his jaw.

Well get through this.

The condescending chuckle falls from my lips, the first break in my fraudulent façade because its so damn easy for him to say. I know.Voice back, emotion nonexistent, tone unsure.

Colton stares, willing me to say more but I dont. I just match him stare for hollow stare as images of myself from Google flickering through my mind. Finally he breaks out connection and reaches his fingers to pinch the bridge of his nose before blowing out a sigh.

Scream at me, Ry. Yell. Rage. Take it out on me. Do anything but be silent because I cant handle when youre silent with me,he pleads. All I can do is shake my head, dig down within myself to will the emotion to come. When I cant find the words or the feeling behind them, it unnerves him, worries him. Im sorry, baby. Were we stupid? Maybe. Do I regret it?He shakes his head. I regret all of this, yes, but that in general? No. So many damn things happened that put you and me where we are now. So for that? Im not sorry. You pushed me that night, made me question if I could give someone more of myself. He reaches his free hand up to brush a thumb over the line of my jaw. His touch reassuring, his words helping soothe the sting of our situation.

Its not your fault,I say, trying to ease the concern in his eyes.

Maybe not directly . . . but I made you color outside of your perfectly constructed lines . . . do something against your nature, and look what happened. Im so sorry. I wish I could make this right,he says, dropping his head as he shakes his head in defeat. All I can try to do is mitigate the damage. Thats it.He throws his hands up. Its killing me because I cant fix this. The break in his voice and the tension in his body would have told me everything I needed to know even if he hadnt uttered a sound.

I look at my achingly handsome husband, so distraught, so desperate to make wrongs right that arent his to be held responsible for. And seeing him as upset as I am makes me feel a little better and allows me to dig into the deep well of emotion. I finally find the words I need and want to tell him. The decisions I came to last night when I sat on the deck and considered the life-altering situation we were in.

Stop. Please quit beating yourself up over this. I dont blame you.I pause, my teeth worrying my bottom lip as I put words to my thoughts and wait for him to hear that last sentence.

Book Review: Mastered by Maya Banks

Mastered (The Enforcers, #1)

What he wants, he takes with no remorse or guilt.

She stood out in his club like a gem, unspoiled and untouched. A lamb among wolves, she clearly didn’t belong. Drawn to her innocence he watched as she was surrounded by men who saw what he did—but no one but him could touch her. He summoned her to his private quarters. He sensed her fear. He also recognized the desire in her eyes. And he knew she wouldn’t leave before he possessed her. She had no need to know his secrets. Not until he had her under his complete and utter control.

What he wants, she isn’t sure she can give him.

The moment he told her want he wanted, she couldn’t resist. Instinct told her to run, but her heart said stay and walk the fine line between pleasure and pain. Though she wasn’t sure she could ever completely surrender, the primal part of her wanted to try, even knowing this man could break her in ways she never imagined. Because once he possessed her, he owned her and it would be too late to turn back. She can only pray that he doesn’t destroy her in the end.

I am a big fan of Maya Bank's Sweet Series and I was very excited about Mastered. Mastered definitely has a darker undertone with a group of alpha, badass, arrogant men.

Evangeline is a simple girl from the South. She needed a better job to help support her family so she moved to NY. When her first real relationship she has while in NY ends badly, her friends encourage her to get back on the saddle and send her to a club with a  rare and precious VIP pass in hand. The pass gets into the club and soon into the heart of a very dangerous alpha Drake Donovan.

The story is Evangeline's struggle with her self worth. She doesn't see her own beauty, she's humble and innocent. It's her innocents that attracts Drake and his men. Drake is all alpha and has the need to protect Evangeline, she's already been hurt once. Drake claims Evangeline as his. The question becomes for how long? Is she just his plaything?

Evangeline begins to discover her self worth, she's building herself confidence. She doesn't hesitate to challenge Drake.  It's Drake who is hiding a secret from Evangeline. In the end it's the secret that leaves us with a cliffhanger. I enjoyed the story, although there is a lot of repeat description that could have shortened the story. 4 Stars.

Book Review: A Very Dirty Christmas by Sabrina Paige

A Very Dirty Christmas (A Stepbrother Romance, #1-3)
Christmas novella that is a sequel to 'Prick'.

Marriage and a baby for the world’s biggest prick? Yeah, right.

I'm marrying the world’s biggest prick. Well, ex-prick.

Caulter Sterling. The tattooed, pierced bad boy I used to love to hate.

It's Christmas in New Hampshire – a white wedding.

What could go wrong when you combine a celebrity mother, a crazy ex, paparazzi, a record-setting blizzard, hundreds of wedding guests, and a runaway ring-bearing monkey?

Oh, yeah – did I mention the pregnant bride in labor?

Merry Effin' Christmas.

This review is for "A Very Dirty Christmas" novella that is part of this awesome book. The Christmas novella is a sequel to 'Prick'. Cannon, which is included, is one of my favorites for 2015.

This is one "Merry Effing Christmas" story. I laughed, laughed some more, busted a gut and there may have been a tear or two. It's Caulter the 'Prick' and a very pregnant Kate's wedding fiasco. Although Kate is eight months pregnant her hormones keep the story hot, steamy and bed breaking. Caulter can't escape his past as it keeps creeping in, making it self known and comically removed.

If you haven't read Prick this is your opportunity. The novella to follow will be the frosting on the cake. 5 effingly funny stars!
