Book Review: Gentleman Sinner by Jodi Ellen Malpas

Gentleman Sinner

Izzy White knows of the darkness in this world. After all, she escaped it long ago. Determined not to let her past beat her, Izzy has a secure, stable life with a job she loves in nursing. But one act of kindness will completely upend everything she's so carefully built-putting her right back in the crosshairs of danger she's been so desperate to avoid.

When Theo Kane shows up like a knight in shining armor, Izzy can't help thinking she's been saved from one threat and exposed to another. His imposing physique, the harsh lines of his face, and the wariness of everyone who comes close are just a few clues to Theo Kane's notorious reputation. The man is positively terrifying. But with Izzy, he's tender and a complete gentleman, and her fascination with the mysterious beast of a man becomes too powerful for her to walk away.

As Theo's demons come to light, running becomes even more impossible. And yet staying together could doom them both.

Gentleman Sinner starts with a chance encounter of two broke souls. Their connection is surprising, his dark to her light. They both have demons in their past that make them untouchable.  The story's anti-hero has a phobia that caused me to check that I hadn't previously read this story. Once I was half way through the story I was able to move past the deja-vu moment.

Theo Kane is a big, terrifying man. He's used to people keeping their distance. When Theo comes to Izzy White's rescue he meets his match. Izzy isn't afraid to stand her ground. After their meeting Theo won't let Izzy walk away easily.

"Theo isn't the kind of man who is refused. He's dark and dangerous."

Izzy isn't afraid of Theo but rather fascinated. She feels safe, something she only feels at work. They both have demons in their past. However Theo's may be too much even for Izzy.

There are painful revelations and heartbreaking moments. I enjoyed the second half of the story and the closure for Theo and Izzy. 4 Stars

Book Review: The Forbidden by Jodi Ellen Malpas

The Forbidden
Annie has never experienced the 'spark' with a guy-that instant chemistry that renders you weak in the knees. That is, until a night out brings her face to face with the dangerously sexy and mysterious Jack. It's not just a spark that ignites between them. It's an explosion. Jack promises to consume Annie, and he fully delivers on that promise.

Overwhelmed by the intensity of their one night together, Annie slips out of their hotel room. She is certain that a man who's had such a powerful impact on her must be dangerous. She has no idea that he belongs to another. That he's forbidden.

The Forbidden is a emotionally gripping, taboo love story. It's intense from the beginning to end. The story revolves around the characters emotional struggle and acceptance. Their struggle is earnest which allows me to put aside any moral judgement.

"Chemistry. A connection. Something I haven't experienced before."
Annie has never found a man who she connects with until she met Jack. She's immediately 'Thunderstruck' when they first lock eyes. Their connection is intoxicating. It was also suppose to be a one-nightstand. Until they meet again under unexpected circumstances and Jack's truth is revealed.

Annie is a strong woman. Her internal moral struggle is intense. She knows what's right from wrong but she struggles fighting against their chemistry and passion.

The author does a fantastic job letting us inside Annie's thoughts and reasoning. Her moral struggle is painful and heartbreaking. The story moves quickly building at an intense rate. The ending crushed me. Crushed me! I need more Annie and Jack. I would love an epilogue written in Jack's POV. 5 Stars!

Book Review: All I Am by Jodi Ellen Malpas

A new novella featuring Drew from the #1 New York Times bestselling This Man trilogy!

I thought I had control. I was so, so wrong . . .

I don’t need a relationship.
I have Hux, a decadent club where I quench whatever raw desire I choose. I take pleasure and I give it—no strings attached. So when Raya Rivers comes in asking for someone cold, emotionless, and filthy . . . well, no man ever takes his wicked pleasure quite the way I do.
Only Raya is different. Vulnerable. And carrying some deep sorrow that gets past all my carefully constructed walls and inexplicably makes me care. Now craving controls me. Ice has given way to red-hot need.
But Raya has no idea about my other life—my real life. That I’m a daddy to an adorable little girl.
My two worlds are about to collide with the force of a supernova. And once Raya knows the truth, will she be able to accept all I am?

All I Am is 100% heat! It's now seven years after the This Man trilogy and we're catching up with Drew Davies.  This is a steamy story right from the start. After being completely screwed over, Drew has chosen to only have one girl in his life, his daughter.

Drew only indulges in "Sex of the filthy kind", cold, emotionless, and filthy. He no plans to get burned again. Drew is also exactly what Raya Rivers wants, no commitment - no strings attached fun.

Raya only wants to forget about her heartache and that's why she has chosen Drew. He was suppose to give her a reprieve from her sadnesss but instead they share a strong connection.

Drew struggles with trust and has chained up his heart tight until Raya. Now it's up to Drew to break the chains before Raya leaves for good.

It's a sexy, sweet novella. The ending is a mad dash to love that had me laughing and weeply smiling. 4 Stars
