Review: Filthy English by Ilsa Madden-Mills

Filthy English (English, #2)
A smokin’ hot British player…
A jilted girl…
One night of mistaken identity…

Two weeks before her wedding, Remi Montague’s fiancĂ© drops her faster than a drunken sorority girl in stilettos. Armed with her best friend and a bottle of tequila, she hops a plane to London to drown her sorrows before fall semester begins at Whitman University.

She didn't plan on attending a masquerade party.

She sure didn’t plan on waking up next to the British bad boy who broke her heart three years ago—the devastatingly handsome and naked Dax Blay. Furthermore, she has no clue how they acquired matching tattoos.

Once back at Whitman together, they endeavor to pretend they never had their night of unbridled passion in London.

But that’s damn hard to do when you live in the same house…

One night. Two damaged hearts. The passion of a lifetime.

*A modern love story inspired by Romeo and Juliet*

**no one dies in the writing of this novel**

When Mr. Temporary meets Miss Forever.

This is the second book in the Blay brother, English series. It's a second chance, Romeo and Juliet romance. The angst level is through the roof! The characters just can't get it together and continually fight their inner pain.

Dax "Mr. Argentine Duck" Blay is back in England babysitting his cousin. One night while at the Masquerade he unsuspectingly hits on a girl who he had a 72-hour fling with three years prior. It was the one girl who gave him a inkling of remorse when she walked away. Dax is a player, he's a temporary guy. He lost his mother when he was young and now guards his heart.

"Yet, when Remi shut that door in my face three years ago, I'd f*cking flinched-because the naive boy in me who'd believed in love had craved her."

Remi Montague had a plan "Marry a responsible, nice guy, get my doctorate, discover a new bird species, take care Malcolm, have four kids," but her plans came to a crashing halt when her perfect guy left her at the alter. Her fiancee asked for a break two weeks before the wedding. Remi gave him his break and went on their honeymoon. While trying to regroup in England she kisses the man who had broken her heart and sent her life into a tailspin three years prior.

It's not an easy reunion. Remi had been destroyed that last time they were together. This time leads to a stolen bracelet, a fake wedding, tattoos and the return of the ex-finance. There's lots of drama, angst, heartbreak and making up. 4 Stars!

Review: Dirty English by Ilsa Madden-Mills

Dirty English

A scarred fighter.
A girl with rules.
One night of unbridled passion.

There are three things you need to know about Elizabeth Bennett: she’s smart as a whip, always in control, and lives by a set of carefully crafted rules. She’s learned the hard way that people you love the most always hurt you in the end.

But then she meets Declan Blay, the new neighbor at her apartment complex.

A tattooed British street fighter, he’s the campus bad boy she’s supposed to avoid, but when he saves her from a frat party gone bad, all her rules about sex and love fly out the window.

She gives him one night of unbridled passion, but he longs for more.

With only a cardboard-thin wall separating their bedrooms, he dreams of possessing the vulnerable girl next door forever.

One night. Two damaged hearts. The passion of a lifetime.

*a modern love story inspired by Pride and Prejudice*

Dirty English left me with happy tears. It was a beautiful story with the perfect amount of angst and heartache that made the ending fulfilling.

"I don't believe in the perfect woman, just the right woman. Elizabeth knows she isn't perfect, but neither is Darcy. They're both flawed people who are at times too proud to admit their own true feeling- hence the title."

Elizabeth Bennett life was destroyed, she takes her life back by creating a strict no relationship rule.

"It was about control. My choice. My Rules."

She has control until she meets Declan Blay. He has the power to pull at her heart strings. When Elizabeth begins to open up her heart, her past comes back to haunt her and she runs for cover.

Declan Blay's heart was recovering from previous relationship. He decides it is best to focus on his fighting because women only get in the way. He's "Dangerous. Sexy. Trouble.". He finds himself falling for the one woman who has  locked up her heart and put away the key.

When their worlds collide they must both find away to move past their fears and insecurities in order to find true love.

I really enjoyed the story. Ilsa Madden-Mills brought the characters and their struggles to life. It was difficult to put the book down, each chapter draws you further and further in. It's a emotional ride worth ever page.
