Book Review: Pucked Love by Helena Hunting

40530730

As an NHL player, relationships haven’t been my thing. Shrouded in secrecy and speculation, they never last very long. But then that’s what happens when you require an NDA before the first date.

Until Charlene. She’s like a firefly. She’s elusive, and if you catch her she’ll burn bright, but keeping her trapped dulls her fire and dims her beauty.

I caught her. And as much as I might want to keep her, I’ll never put the lid on her jar. Not at the risk of losing her. So I've let her set the rules in our relationship.

But as long hidden secrets expose us both, I discover exactly how fragile Charlene is, and how much I need her.

We’re all broken. We’re all messed up. Some more than others. Me more than most.

Pucked Love is the final book of the Pucked series.  It makes broken beautiful! Pucked Love is slightly different from the other books in the series.  The author challenges her boundaries and I loved it! It's still filled with good ole puck humor but it also delves into some surprising almost kinkery.

Darren Westinghouse is very private about his personal life. His past has sealed the doors to his heart tight. Until he meets his firefly. Charlene Hoar also has a past that keeps her from finding love. Can they find a way to make their broken pieces fit together?

The grand finale brings all the Pucked family together.  It was fun catching up with the family. I'm ready to start the series all over again. 5 Stars

Book Review: Hooking Up by Helena Hunting

35048632

Amalie Whitfield is the picture of a blushing bride during her wedding reception–but for all the wrong reasons. Instead of proclaiming his undying love, her husband can be heard, by Amalie and their guests, getting off with someone else. She has every reason to freak out, and in a moment of insanity, she throws herself at the first hot-blooded male she sees. But he’s not interested in becoming her revenge screw.

Mortified and desperate to escape the post-wedding drama, Amalie decides to go on her honeymoon alone, only to find the man who rejected her also heading to the same tiny island for work. But this time he isn’t holding back. She should know better than to sleep with someone she knows, but she can’t seem to resist him.

They might agree that what happens on the island should stay on the island, but neither one can deny that their attraction is more than just physical.

Filled with hilariously scandalous situations and enough sexual chemistry to power an airplane from New York City to the South Pacific, Hooking Up is the next standalone, laugh-out-loud romantic comedy from Helena Hunting, the New York Times bestselling author of the Pucked series and Shacking Up.

Whoo! Hooking Up is one complex, emotional ride mixed with a few funny moments to give it some levity.

Amalie Whitfield and the entire wedding reception are unfortunate spectators to her husband, Armstrong, receiving a blowjob by another woman over the sound system. After Amalie attacked her wedding dress with gardening sheers and jumped her husbands cousin, Lexington 'Lex' Mills, she decides to head to Bora Bora for an anti-honeymoon.

On her way to Bora Bora Amalie discovers that Lex is also heading to Bora Bora for work. Just what she needs, the man who rejected her after she discovered her husband cheating on her. While in Bora Bora Amalie and Lex can't put aside their intense attraction. Amalie's best friend had been goading her to hook-up and that's just what Amalie decides to do with Lex.

"We agreed that what happened between us would stay in Bora Bora."

Amalie eventually returns home to deal with the Armstrong because he doesn't want to sign the annulment paperwork. She tries to stay away from Lex but their chemistry continues to push them together. Amalie soon discovers that Armstrong and Lex may have put her right in the middle of their long standing rivalry.

Helena Hunting knows how to write a villain. Armstrong is a grade A jack ass. I wanted to punch him in the face. The rivalry between Lex and Armstrong is pretty intense. The story moves between their rivalry and the growing relationship between Amalie and Lex. Amalie and Lex have a strong sexual chemistry that finds it's way into their hearts. 4 Stars

Book Review: Pucked Off by Helena Hunting

Pucked Off (Pucked, #5)
I’m NHL defenseman Lance Romero, AKA Lance “Romance."

I’m notorious for parties and excess. I have the most penalty minutes in the league. I get into the most fights. I take the most hits. I’m a player on and off the ice. I’m the one women with no inhibitions want.

Not because I like the notoriety, but because I don’t know how to be any other way.

I have secrets. Ones I shared with the wrong person, and she used them against me. Sometimes she still does. I should cut ties. But she makes it difficult, because she’s the kind of bad I deserve.

At least that’s what I believed until someone from my past gets caught up in my present. She’s all the good things in this world. She lights up my dark.

I shouldn’t want her.

But I do.

I should leave her alone.

But I won’t.

I really have enjoyed the Puck Series but Pucked Off took it to the next level. It's different from the rest of the series. There's more emotion and strife. It's finally time for Lance 'Romance' Romero's second-chance painfully, heartwarming story.

This story completely caught me by surprise. I didn't expect the emotional strife that was Lance and Tash. Tash had been previously terminated from her job as the team trainer because she and Lance had been caught in the gym locker room doing the nasty. Their story doesn't end there and it's not what I had expected. It's much worse. Lance does not feel worthy and continues with the chaos know as Tash.

"I don't know how to exist without the chaos, and I seek it because it confirms the message beaten into me as a kid: I deserve to be a victim, because my little brother was mine."

Lance carries around the weight of the world on his shoulders which leads him to altercations. After a bad pummeling, Lance is sent to Poppy O'Connor, massage therapist, to relieve his stiffness. Lance does not like when women touch him but to his surprise he enjoys Poppy's massages. He wants more of Poppy and soon she gives into a few dates.

Lance needs Poppy. She soothes the wild beast. However Lance keeps his struggles and hockey life away from Poppy. It doesn't take long for it to all go wrong. His good intentions back fire and he almost loses the woman he loves.

There is a lot of heartache and tears in Pucked Off. Lance is a complex character who is misunderstood. His painful past drove him into the arms of the wrong woman. He struggles to move forward until he finds his strength with Poppy by his side. Poppy is an amazingly strong woman. She had a past with Lance but kept it to herself because of their last encounter. Now they have a second chance to make it work if Lance is willing to let her into all of his life. This story indirectly deals with mental illness in a serious but hopeful way. The author did an excellent job in developing the characters. This book is so much more. 5 Stars!

Book Review: Pucked Under by Helena Hunting

Pucked Under (Pucked, #4.5)
Randy Ballistic and Lily LeBlanc are head-over-heels, bed-breakingly, screaming orgasmically in love. But even they have their challenges, mostly outside of the bedroom.

With the off-season coming to a close and the boys gearing up for training camp, one more weekend of fun is the perfect way to welcome the new season.

The entire crew piles into vehicles and drives to Alex and Violet’s Chicago cottage for a few days of relaxation—and hopefully a chance for Randy to shake the anxiety that’s been plaguing him.

Accidental wardrobe malfunctions, typical Violet inspired overshares, and a whole lot of private time round out the perfect weekend getaway.

But the moment they return to the city all of Randy’s angst resurfaces with the arrival of a surprise houseguest.

Pucked Under is the continuation of Randy and Lily's story. We fell in love with Randy and Lily in Pucked Over and now we're catching up with the gang before the beginning of the next hockey season. This novella is packed with good information! Not only is fun, sexy, and angsty but there are life lessons to be learned.

Pucked Under Life Lessons
#1 Don't eat Doritos if you want to have sex. Inevitable halitosis.
#2 Delete all nude pictures and sex videos from your phone. If you lose your phone you're screwed.
#3 Double check that you closed the bedroom window before having loud sex. Be kind to others.
#4 Don't wear skimpy bikini bottoms if you're planning on going water skiing. Wardrobe malfunction alert!

Finally the most important life lesson, your life your choices. Cycles can broken and love can be had.  The story is filled with laughs, love and new life. 5 Stars!

Review: Forever Pucked (Pucked, #4) by Helena Hunting

Forever Pucked (Pucked, #4)
Being engaged to Alex Waters, team captain and the highest paid NHL player in the league, is awesome. How could it not be?

In addition to being an amazing hockey player, he’s an incurable romantic with an XL heart, and an XXL hockey stick in his pants. And he knows how to use it. Incredibly, orgasmically well. Alex is the whole package and more. Literally. Like his package is insane. Total world record holder material.

So it makes complete sense that Violet Hall can’t wait to nail him down to the matrimonial mattress and become Mrs. Violet Waters.

It’s so romantic.

Violet is totally stoked to set a date.

Eventually. At some point. Likely before the next millennium. Or when Violet stops getting hives every time someone brings up the wedding, and their mothers stop colluding on stadium sized venues. Whichever comes first.

Their back, the whole gang! Alex, Violet and the rest of the crew are back with more laughs, tears and revelations. Violet continues breaking out in hives with the mere mention of the “W” word. Her past experience continues to plague her. Alex wants nothing more than to marry the love of his life. When tragedy strikes, their world is rattled and life takes on a new prospective.

The story starts off with Violets hysterical hijinks and mayhem. I love that she doesn't have a filter, everything goes. Violet’s career is on a upswing, she's coming into her own. How will she deal with Alex who wants more time with her when he's home.

“Life isn’t all roses and unicorn farts made of glitter and Chanel No. 5.”

Everything changes after a cheap shot on the ice. Talk about angst, I was wiping away my tears and trying to read at the same time. I love when a story socks you with a good punch. Priorities change, Violet and beaver make the decision that life is too short and it's time to move on with wedding. Now can Violet and Alex hold off their Mothers from creating a four ring circus out of their wedding? Holy cow you need to read this story! You will love the crazy sexiness. 5 Stars!

Review: Pucked Over (Pucked #3) by Helena Hunting

Pucked Over (Pucked, #3)

Lily LeBlanc isn’t versed in the art of casual sex, but after seven years in an on-again, off-again relationship, she’s definitely willing to give it a shot. And who better to try it with than her best friend’s boyfriend’s best friend? What could possibly go wrong? Nothing at all.

NHL player, Randy Ballistic, lives up to his last name on the ice and in the bedroom. His best friend and teammate has recently given up the puck bunnies and traded them in for a real girlfriend. And she just happens to have a seriously feisty, extra-hot best friend on the rebound. Randy’s more than happy to be Lily’s spring board back into the dating scene.

Casual sex is only casual until those pesky things called emotions get involved. Once that happens, someone’s bound to gets pucked over.

Loved it! I loved the crazy relationships, the quirky characters, and their imperfections. Helena Hunting writing makes you feel at home. I felt among friends while enjoying the story.

Randy "Ball" Ballistic is a player, who enjoys the puck bunnies who are plentiful. He is only looking for casual sex. Lily LeBlanc is on the rebound after ending a seven year relationship. They couldn't have found each other at a better time. Randy is up for a "No strings. No attachments. Just a whole lot of awesome orgasms." fun time. Lily insta-attraction and orgasmic possibilities has her agreeing to a fun time.

When fun times develop into feelings will they be able to take the next steps? Randy and Lily's quirks and insecurities drive their decisions until they find acceptance from one another. Their quirky friends only help to bring them together.  It's a great story, it's funny, sexy and feel good! 5 Balls to Wall Stars!
