To him, I was the strange girl whose mom had just abandoned her.
To me, he was a savior, an anchor, someone who stood beside me on that beach.
The next time I saw him, I was twenty, and he was thirty-six.
He didn't remember me.
And when he flirted...
I didn't tell him.
By the time he found out, it was too late.
We tried to deny our desire, but our attraction was too enticing.
Eight years ago, I gave Grayson Price a piece of my heart.
Too bad he’s my dad’s best friend.
Entice is an age-gap romance. This maybe my favorite cover of the year! The cover and blurb drew me in. Unfortunately, the story itself was long and whiny.
River has known Grayson Price since her mother surprised her by leaving her with her father. She felt abandoned by her mother, who she now sees irregularly. Grayson was River's father's best friend until friction ended their friendship. Now Grayson's back in their lives, helping his old friend and falling in love with his daughter.
There is a lot of drama in this story, the age-gap of fifteen years, fear of abandonment, fear of death and family drama. Maybe too much drama. I also struggled with how I felt about River. She seemed immature for her twenty years of age. She's been harboring feelings of insecurity for so long that she stunted her relationship with her father and step-mother. Now an older family friend/love interest is thrown in to the mix. I struggled even after a surprise revelation. I felt the story dragged at times. I was never able to connect with the characters and just wanted the story to end. 3 stars
