Book Review: Take by Pam Godwin

He’s a notorious crime lord, a kidnapper, and an artist.
Scarification is his outlet, and he just captured a new canvas.
Kate refuses to surrender beneath his blade or the cruelty in his beautiful eyes.
But she’s drawn to the man inside the monster. A man who makes her ache with his touch. Who owns her with his kiss.
A man who worships her as deeply as he hurts her.
She can run, but there’s no escape from a bond carved in scars.

Take is a dark, dangerous romance with grit!  It's the fifth book in the Deliver series. The story coincides with the fourth book in the series, Devastate. I highly recommend you read the series in order to be fully acquainted with the dark sinister world of Deliver.

Kate has been taken, again. This time it's for revenge. Kate is a fighter. She selfless, strong and driven. Tiago Badell is a ruthless crime lord. He's taken Kate as retribution. Although he had planned on quickly disposing of her, Kate finds away to stay alive.

"There's nothing more vibrant, more beautiful, or more treasured than the flower that blooms in hell."

Tiago takes a liking to Kate. He makes it clear that she is his and he will never let her go. Kate discovers what's behind the shadow of Tiago's eyes. There is more to his story. A story of pain that has led to a fascination with blood and scarification. Kate becomes conflicted with wanting to escape or finding love in hell. When the opportunity arises for Kate to escape, we discover what it takes to be a real heroine.

This is how you write a dark romance! It had me by the balls. Tiago makes for a formidable anti-hero. He is dark, broody and decadent. Take is one of favorites of 2019. 5 stars
