Book Review: Julien by Ella Frank

People are complex.
Love a double-edged sword.
And when it comes to a broken heart, there are no rules, only time…

For the past eight years, Julien Thornton has been living with a secret. One that only a handful of people know about.

To the outside world, he has it all.
A thriving career. A loving husband. And a face that the American public fell for by the millions, on a reality show that inadvertently saved his life.

But behind the shine of celebrity, behind the easygoing nature, a crippling truth fills Julien with pain and self-loathing. It’s a truth that he fights to overcome daily with the help of his husband, Joel Priestley, and now their boyfriend, Robbie Bianchi.

But unlike Priest, Robbie doesn’t know what he’s helping Julien to fight. He doesn’t know what Julien did all those years ago. And with the anniversary of his sister’s death fast approaching, the time for explanations is running out.

And thus the question: will the princess be able to forgive the prick as the priest once did?

Only time will tell.

Magnifique! There isn't enough praise for Julien! Julien is book two in the Confessions series. It's a emotional story that kept me clamoring for more.

This is Julien, the Prick, Thornton's story. Julien's secret comes front and center at the anniversary of his twin sister's death. Julien fears his big secret could drive away Robbie Bianchi, the man who has joined him and his husband, Joel 'Priest' Priestly.

Although the series is center around a newly formed menage a trois, the characters depth makes this much, much more. Julien is not only suffering from the tragic loss of his sister but also his involvement. Julien, Priest, Robbie travel to Julien's parents home for the anniversary of his sister's death. There Julien is broken, shattered into a million pieces. What starts off as heart crushing quickly morphs into something beautiful.

I cried, cried and cried some more. The story is beautiful. It has all the feels. Robbie is a beacon of light that guides Julien out of the dark. I love the way the story is written, confession of the soul. The Series isn't over yet. Next comes Priest's story. 5 Stars
