Review: Play Me by Katie McCoy

Play Me

Recipe For:
A Roll In The Hay Hot Crossed Buns Love

Ingredients:

1 Chef (equal parts sexy and carefree)
1 Pianist (equal parts uptight and endearing)
1/8 inch of drywall between their apartments
2 opinions on everything

Combine all ingredients, mix vigorously, and be prepared for an explosion of heat.

Pianist Ella Thomas is training for the competition of her life. Finally in an apartment of her own, she can practice from dawn till dusk.
But she didn't bet on the sexy and frustrating neighbor keeping her up all night - even if he does cook like a maestro and kiss like it’s his job.

Jake Matson is living his dream as Head Chef at one of the most popular restaurants in San Francisco. He's easy going, flirtatious and not looking for love. He didn't expect to be completely distracted by the girl next door, whose buttoned-up appearance hides the seductive firecracker underneath.

What happens when opposites attract? As their tension fires up, can they create a new kind of music together or will everything boil over?

I loved this story! Ella and Jake share an intense passion for their careers and it carries over into their relationship. Ella is lost in a colorless life. She's fighting her anxieties and letting others keep her in the dark, while pursuing her passion. Jake is living his dream as head chef hoping for an opportunity to serve-up his own recipes.

When Jake decides to winner over Ella, he discovers she is stuck on her canned chicken soup regiment and decides it's time to expand her palette. For Ella, Jake's plan does more then expand her palette, it brings her out of the dark and into color. They both have busy schedules and anxiety trying to prove themselves. Can a relationship work or will their careers take over?

There is so much beauty in this story. Ella comes into her own, letting go of the negative and moving past her insecurities. I cried through the last three chapters. There is a little bit of Ella in all of us and I hope we all have a Jake to feed us brownies. 5 Savory Stars.
