Review: The King (Original Sinners #6) by Tiffany Reisz

The King (The Original Sinners: White Years, #2)

Cunning. Sex. Pure nerve. Only this unholy threesome can raise him to his rightful place as a ruler of Manhattan's kink kingdom.

Bouncing from bed to bed on the Upper East Side, Kingsley Edge is brilliant, beautiful and utterly debauched. No carnal act or chemical compound can relieve his self-destructive heartache—only Søren, the one person he loves without limit or regret. A man he can never have, but in whose hands Kingsley is reborn to attain even greater heights of sin.

Kingsley's plan to open the ultimate BDSM club—a dungeon playground for New York's A-list—becomes his obsession. His expertise in domination can't subdue the one man who wants to stop him. The enigmatic Reverend Fuller won't rest until King's dream is destroyed, and so the battle lines are set; it's one man's sacred mission against another's…

The King is the 6th book in the Original Sinners Series. I 100% recommend you read the series in order.

Kingsley Edge is visiting with Grace and shares his story.  Kingsley at twenty-eight years old is lost. He's no longer living until he reconnects with Soren after eleven years. Soren seeks Kingsly help with freeing Nora. Kingsly assists with Nora's situation and Soren assists with bringing Kingsley back to life. Kingsley hires Sam to be his personal assistant. Now that Kingsley is living again he devises a plan to build a BDSM club where he could be  'King' and he can watch over all his people.  He also wanted and had promised to given Soren a dungeon.

"I wanted this club for you." Kingsley confessed. "The truth is, I was building it for you.  I wanted you to have somewhere safe you could go and be you. Because I love you."

"That day in the Rolls when we went to visit your sister, I promised you I would build you a castle, and you said to build you a dungeon instead.  Why not both in one? I promise someday."

Kingsley had chosen a building that was currently owned by Reverend Fuller from WTF (oops, I ment WTL) ministries. A conservative organization against all things perverted. Unfortunately Sam had a very bad experience with the WTL. Fortunately she met Kingsley and together they would find away to get the building so Kingsley could have his kingdom. I really enjoyed Kingsley story. We discovered his motives for establishing the Eighth Circle, where the name came from and why he wears his frock.  I am totally captivated by Tiffany Reisz and her Eighth Circle.

would totally get the The 8th Circle logo as a tattoo.

Review: Dom Wars Round 1&2 by Lucian Bane

Lucian Bane’s inner Dom is out of control and hungry for things he can’t name. When he signs up for Dom Wars, he meets Tara who is naive to the BDSM world. Her reckless dominance and puritan heart fascinate him. But when he discovers the pain in her past, it unleashes his true Dom within.

Lucian and Tara make it to round two in the DOM WARS. The challenges now revolve around trust, and while Tara's inhibitions in the world of BDSM are slowly being crushed by Lucian's passion, her deep rooted fears become the real obstacle he must dominate.

Review

Dom Wars Round 1 is a very interesting spin on Dom/sub relationship. Doms are paired off in a competition to find the best Dom. There is a big cash prize that both Lucian Bane and Tara Reese both desperately need. Lucian and Tara meet on line waiting to test for the competition. Lucian warns Tara off of the competition knowing she's not a Dom. They end up together in the competition. The stories premise is unbelievable and the characters are a mess. Really Lucian cries?  Cries? One Dom has to sub at different times.  Okay maybe, no I don't think so. To be honest couldn't put this train wreck down. Onto Dom Wars Round 2

Dom Wars Round 2 continues Lucian and Tara's partnership in being the ultimate Dom. They are now competing in a Global Dom Wars. They are given challenges that are more for an ultimate warrior then a Dom. Lucian becomes a whiner in this round. He doesn't know if Tara cares about him or just the competition. He's developed feels for her and she hasn't reciprocated.  I'm not sure if either is a Dom.  I'm still struggling with the premise and the characters.

Review: Tamed (Club Sin #5) by Stacey Kennedy

Tamed_Kennedy

Porter Marshall has nearly achieved his goal of becoming a Club Sin Master, but his new sub poses a much bigger challenge than he anticipated. Despite their mutual attraction and red-hot dungeon sessions, Kenzie Hart plays her own games. Her bratty, you-can’t-break-me attitude masks terrible personal hurt—pain that only the exquisite touch of a skilled Dom can release. But when Porter suggests taking their connection to the outside world, Kenzie denies him . . . which only makes him want her more.

Kenzie can’t ignore the raw, fierce bond she has with Porter. But she can’t give in to his dangerous demands, either. Is the passion they share real, or is he using her to solidify his status at Club Sin? And yet, who else can she trust with the shattering secrets she holds within? As Porter expertly brings her to the point of no return, Kenzie surrenders her body—and, piece by piece, her heart.

This is Porter and Kenzie's story and The 5th in the Club Sin series.  When Kenzie is at Club Sin she's a 'Brat'.  She misbehaves in order to provoke a a Dom into punishing her. Porter has been assigned to Kenzie in order to gain his Master's status at the club. He had been watching Kenzie for a while and was ready for the challenge. What he didn't know was he would fall for her. Kenzie was hiding secrets from her Dom and her friends. Secrets that could hurt her and were consuming her. Porter had a difficult job getting Kenzie to open up. . This story provoked all sorts of emotions. I cried, laughed and smiled. Although the first few pages struck me as slightly corny I really enjoyed the story. We got to know and understand Kenzie. Her past was consuming her and her present was falling apart. Porter had the right amount of patience, confidence and self doubt.   He saw into Kenzie's soul and wanted in and not just as a friend.  The question is will she let him in? Will she share her secrets?  I can't wait for the next Club Sin book.  Sawyer and Chloe?

Review: Empathy By Ker Dukey

empathy

Blake:
I'm a brother
I am a police detective
I am a contract killer
I don't want to love
I don't want to feel

I don't want ... EMPATHY
They say some people are born with decreased activity in the front central lobe causing them a deficiency in empathy. Maybe that’s true about me but whether I was born this way or created in a moment of evil, empathy was something I didn’t possess until her green eyes met mine in the mirror and I couldn’t take her life.
I didn’t want to feel, didn’t want this woman in my life complicating how I lived but she was there at every turn. Sent to haunt me for my sins. Her light so bright she provoked a shadow from everyone she touched. When a job turns bad quickly altering my life forever I’m forced to feel. When nothing is making sense I’m forced to face truths I never would recover from. When life drowns you in its cruelty you don’t know which way the current will drag you or who you’ll become once you re-surface.
Melody
I was a daughter
I was a student
I was a victim
Did I have his love?
Did I make him feel?
Did I have his empathy?

When the actions of a soulless killer forces sorrow into my veins I never dreamed the man healing my wounds would be the one to leave the worst scar. His love would scar my soul. Scars are permanent; I will never feel the relief from them. Will I learn to live with them, remember why I have them and learn never to let him close enough to inflict more? Will I eventually cover them… like tattoos coating them with new memories, new love and new starts? I didn’t know these answers because the pain was too suffocating, the only thing I knew was they will always be under the surface lingering. He had scars too, from his sins. There is nothing that can cover them, they were too deep, too ugly, too dark and they marked us both forever.

Review: Lilith by Kelli Maine

Picture
Who am I?
I’m every woman’s worst nightmare.
A taker of lives.
A trainer of slaves.
You can call me Lucifer.
Luc “Lucifer” Bontrager is a nomad in Lucifer’s Legion Motorcycle Club. Traveling chapter to chapter, he brings in big money kidnapping women, training them and selling them as sex slaves. He’s heartless, brutal and all business. And then he meets his match.

Lilith. Every man’s worst nightmare. A taker of lives. A sociopath on the run. Inked up with satanic symbols and verses, she’s fearless and completely insane. Luc can’t train her, he sure as hell can’t sell her, and—for the first time in his life—he can’t bring himself to put a bullet in the bitch’s head either.

She’s his worst regret. Her words and cold, calculating eyes haunt him. She’s the devil on his shoulder, reminding him of all his sins. He should’ve killed her when he had the chance, because when the unthinkable happens and Luc falls for the young, innocent girl he’s training, Lilith seeks her revenge, targeting the only girl he’s ever wanted to keep as his own.

Review

Kelli Maine has combined two of my favorite genres into one awesome Dark MC series. At the beginning of the book we are introduced to Lilith and Lucifer (Luc).  Luc is part of a Motorcycle Club and is in charge of of training women to sell as sex slaves.  It's his specialty.

"Not many of us can accept the darkness inside; that's why they leave this shit to me.
I am fuckin darkeness.
A fuckin' shadown man."

Lilith is taken

"Say goodbye to life as you know it, bitch.  You're mine now."

It turns out she is pure evil.  Luc knows from the start that Lilith is not right for his club's plans.  He decides to get rid of her however she gets under his skin and he leaves her alive.  Luc has a hard time forgetting about Lilith.

"I see you.
 I know you.
 I am you.
If it's true, then it's a fuckin tragedy. Nobody should be like me."

The club still has a deadline too meet and needs a replacement.  The club finds a replacement and begins her training. Luc is her trainer and only has a week to get her ready before she's sold. Luc starts to develop feeling for her and finds away to push them down.

At the end Lilith reappears with a message.  Now we wait to find out what that messages really means. This is great start to the series.  I couldn't put it down.  I needed to know where the plot was heading.  I need more crazy, evil Lilith!  This story is dark and dangerous, and the MC proves to the worst of it's kind.

Oh No No No! I can't wait for the next book!
We pick up right where left off. Hansel aka Edgar has decided not to take Leah to Mother's house. He's become cold and distant. Leah doesn't give up. She want her Hansel.

"I want to touch him. I want to make him feel me. Now that I finally found him, I'm not letting him go without a fight."

Edgar does anything he can to push Leah away. He wants her gone. Leah shares her demons with Edgar trying to convince him that she's not a good girl. We learn a lot more about Edgar's past from his flashbacks. A little more is revealed about Shelly. We discover that his relationship with Mother is WARPED! Leah finally convinces Edgar to bring her to Mother's house. She wants closure. We are left with Edgar having a flashback that will rock Leah's world (and mine). I really, really need the next installment. Ella James knows how to keep us on our seats.

Review: Lone Wolf (Bluewater Bay #4) by Aleksandr Vionov and L.A. Witth

Lone Wolf (Bluewater Bay #4)

Hunter Easton is screwed. Fans, producers, and his agent are all chomping at the bit for the next book in his wildly popular Wolf’s Landing series, but he’s got epic writer’s block and is way behind deadline. Then he reads The World Tree, a fanfic novel by his online friend “Lone Wolf.” It isn’t just a great story—it’s exactly what the series needs.Kevin Hussain is thrilled when “Wolf Hunter” wants to meet up after reading The World Tree. When Wolf Hunter turns out to be Hunter Easton himself, Kevin is starstruck. When Hunter tells him he wants to add The World Tree to Wolf’s Landing, Kevin is sure he’s being pranked. And when their online chemistry carries over—big time—into real life, Kevin is convinced it’s all too good to be true. The problem is . . . it might be. The book deal, the sex, the money—everything is amazing. But fame isn’t all it’s cracked up to be, and Kevin is left wondering if Hunter really loves him, or just loves his book.

Review

Hunter Easton is a reclusive author who spends time on a fanfic website ironically  under the alias of Wolf Hunter.  Hunter had made a close friend on the website, Lone Wolf.  They had been chatting and Lone Wolf had shared his written works including The World Tree. Hunter had been in a funk and was not able to produced an over due eighth book for his Wolf's Landing Series. After reading The World Tree it all came together and Hunter would change Kevin's (aka Lone Wolf) life for ever.

I found the first 25% of the book difficult to get through. It provided insightful background information on fanfic and a little of Hunter's past. It was long though.  The story picks up once Kevin is offered a deal to publish The World Tree as part of the Wolf's Landing Series. Things begin to heat up for Kevin with his new found career and his relationship with Hunter. After spending eight days together working on the novel they grew closer. They learned how to work and live together, although they both didn't know it yet. As part of their contract they both had to attend book signing and conventions.  Kevin had been introduced at a fan convention and he became overwhelmed. It was a lot to take in. Hunter suggested that Kevin take a break. Kevin was unsure of Hunter's motives. Was he sending him away because he didn't need him anymore? Or did Hunter need space?  Hunter had always enjoyed his solitude and Kevin wasn't sure if could continue to walk on egg shells when he was at his home.
The Good:  The relationship dynamic was complicated and I enjoyed how it worked it self out. The characters had a twenty year age difference and it was evident in the way they communicated.
The Not So Good: At the beginning there is a lot of time spent on explaining the fanfic community.  I had lost interest.
I'm happy that I pushed forwarded because I loved the remainder of the story. There is a message to be learned no matter want your sexual preference and that is communication is key. This book is a
good reminder of how important it is to commicate with your partner otherwise your assumptions could be the doom of your relationship.

Review: Captive in the Dark (The Dark Duet #1) by C.J. Roberts

Captive in the Dark by CJ Roberts

BOOK ONE OF THE DARK DUET:
Caleb is a man with a singular interest in revenge. Kidnapped as a young boy and sold into slavery by a power-hungry mobster, he has thought of nothing but vengeance. For twelve years he has immersed himself in the world of pleasure slaves searching for the one man he holds ultimately responsible. Finally, the architect of his suffering has emerged with a new identity, but not a new nature. If Caleb is to get close enough to strike, he must become the very thing he abhors and kidnap a beautiful girl to train her to be all that he once was.

Eighteen-year-old Olivia Ruiz has just woken up in a strange place. Blindfolded and bound, there is only a calm male voice to welcome her. His name is Caleb, though he demands to be called Master. Olivia is young, beautiful, naïve and willful to a fault. She has a dark sensuality that cannot be hidden or denied, though she tries to accomplish both. Although she is frightened by the strong, sadistic, and arrogant man who holds her prisoner, what keeps Olivia awake in the dark is her unwelcome attraction to him.

WARNING: This book contains very disturbing situations, dubious consent, strong language, and graphic violence.

Review

Not what I expected. It's gritty and rough. Livvie has been kidnapped and will be sold in a slave auction. The slave training introduces us to Caleb's world. It's interesting to see a relationship form.

Review: Reaper's Stand (Reapers MC #4) by Joanna Wylde

Reaper's Stand (Reapers MC, #4)

As Reapers Motorcycle Club president, Reese “Picnic” Hayes has given his entire life to the club. After losing his wife, he knew he’d never love another woman. And with two daughters to raise and a club to manage, that was just fine with him. These days, Reese keeps his relationships free and easy—he definitely doesn’t want to waste his time on a glorified cleaning lady like London Armstrong.

Too bad he’s completely obsessed with her.

Besides running her own business, London’s got her junkie cousin’s daughter to look after—a more reckless than average eighteen-year-old. Sure she’s attracted to the Reapers’ president, but she’s not stupid. Reese Hayes is a criminal and a thug. But when her young cousin gets caught up with a ruthless drug cartel, Reese might be the only man who can help her. Now London has to make the hardest decision of her life—how far will she go to save her family?

Review

The 4th in the Reapers Motorcycle Club book. Reese aka Picnic or Pic, falls for his clubs cleaning woman. London owns her own cleaning company, is dating a bad cop and falls for the president of the local motorcycle club. She's also a caregiver for her cousin Jessica. This is a thrill ride. Joanna Wylde brings this story to life. I enjoyed Picnics conversations with his dead wife. I loved London's determination. 5 Stars of excitement and giving love a second chance.

Best Quote Ever!

“It took everything I had to bite back a little squee of excitement, because there’s not a woman on earth who doesn’t secretly want to ride off into the sunset with a bad man on a bike . ”

Selling Scarlett by Ella James

scarlett
Elizabeth DeVille doesn't belong at a party like this - one where the gowns cost more than her Camry and cigars run higher than her grad school utility bills. Dragged out of seclusion by her best friend Suri, Elizabeth is merely playing dress-up, rubbing elbows with a crowd that banished her troubled family years ago.

Hunter West is tired. Tired of parties, tired of pretending, and tired of trying to right a wrong that haunts him every day. Bourbon heir and professional poker player by day, by night

Hunter is gambling with his life in a high-stakes game of crime and blackmail.

When Elizabeth stumbles into Hunter's den of vices, she's a light in the darkness, a flame in the void. And, just like everything he touches, Hunter mars her in a record time. To rectify the damage done, Elizabeth needs money she doesn't have, and she's come up with a foolproof way to get it.

Follow Elizabeth - code-named Scarlett - to the lush Nevada brothel where she'll auction her virginity and risk the only thing that's not for sale: her heart. The highest bidder is a familiar face, with wicked hands and the devil's mouth. And a secret so dark that it could cost her life.

Review

Elizabeth Deville was a heiress, now she finds herself taking care of her Mom who she placed in rehab and is almost broke.  She does have two closest friends otherwise she feels like an outsider. One night after an argument her close friend, Cross, took off on his motorcycle and had a serious accident.  After a few weeks of treatment at a specialized facility, Cross's parents are no longer willing to continue to pay for his specialized treatments.  Elizabeth feels responsible and during a court hearing she offers to pay for the specialized treatment.  She doesn't have the money so she decides to auction off the one thing she has that others may want.... her virginity.

Hunter, a poker player, an investor and a heir to his family's Bourbon business has found himself in the middle of a missing persons case.  He was the last one with her before she had gone missing.  Hunter is also being blackmailed by a porn actress, Priscilla, to keep his past hidden.

This book was intense.  I could not read it fast enough.  Elizabeth (Libby) doesn't fit in with her friends social class.  She's no longer a heir to her family's business because her father sold it.  We are first introduced to a very insecure Elizabeth.
"I'm still a fat girl. Not a lot fat.  Just regular, eats-too-much-good-food fat.  The kind of fat that curls the waist of my jeans down and creates an unattractive line of back fat between my pants and my top, just over the butt, when I sit crossed-legged, hunched over one of my textbook."
Elizabeth was attending a party at Hunter's home.  At the party she found herself in Hunter's room and they had a brief encounter. Elizabeth had a crush on Hunter since she was a teenager.  After she leave's Hunter's room, she runs into Cross.  They have a few words, Cross takes off and the accident occurs.
As the story progresses and Elizabeth decides to auction off her virginity, she losses weight and begins to tone up.  She arrives as a "virgin at a brothel" in better shape but still insecure because she's a virgin.  I couldn't have been happier with who won the auction.
"I've sold my virginity.  I can't believe anyone paid $10 million for my hymen."
After the auction the story takes a couple of twists and turns, intense page turners. Ella James hit the mark!  5 intense, sexy and intriguing stars.

"My beautiful filthy girl."

We previously discovered Ashton was Justine's (JJ) seducer. He was sending her invitations for filthy encounters. After JJ was no longer anger with Ash because she thought  he was using her, they ran off to the Hamptons for a hot weekend. We discover that Ash was hiding a big secret.  A secret that was keeping him away from JJ until now. The secret was revealed (no surprise) and JJ decides it's a big enough secret to dump Ashton. Ash continues to pursue JJ until he can explain himself and they get back together until the secret comes back to haunt them. Was I cryptic enough?  The story was Hot but the plot was not intriguing. It's was predictable. I did enjoy alpha Ash and his commentary. A happily ever after is always a good ending.

She's intrigued by the invitation and takes the challenge. After three years Ash reappears. He's taken over his family business and seems cold and distant. He's not the same Ash she remembers. Justine continues accepting invitations and playing with her secret admirer while working on her case and debating her feels for Ash. At the end Justine's case is settled, her secret admirer is revealed and were left questioning what she'll do next. You win some, you lose some. I enjoyed the reveal. The story is HOT! I recommend this wild ride.
