Book Review: Rock Chick Reawakening by Kristen Ashley

Rock Chick Reawakening (Rock Chick, #0.5)
From New York Times bestselling author, Kristen Ashley, comes the long-awaited story of Daisy and Marcus, Rock Chick Reawakening. A prequel to Kristen’s Rock Chick series, Rock Chick Reawakening shares the tale of the devastating event that nearly broke Daisy, an event that set Marcus Sloane—one of Denver’s most respected businessmen and one of the Denver underground’s most feared crime bosses—into finally making his move to win the heart of the woman who stole his.

Like so many Rock Chick fans I could not wait for this book! Rock Chick Reawakening brings us back to the much loved series. It's the beginning for Daisy and Marcus and the beginning of the heart and soul of the series. Many years ago I was drawn into the Rock Chick series because the characters felt like family. KA's writing is comforting, like a warm blanket and some fuzzy slippers. She makes you feel at home. This novella is the beginning but it's better read after you acquaint yourself with the series.

Daisy deals with her past by building walls to safe guard her heart. (These walls are important and heartbreakingly beautiful.) She had found a way to move on from her past until she was crushed, leaving her feeling like Nothing. I wept for like a baby for Daisy, my heart hurt. Daisy finds hope when she awakens to the beautiful daisies she receives daily from Marcus, a man she barely knew.

Marcus is determined to win over Daisy. He slowly pushes his way into her life. He's a gentleman with a big heart but is involved with some shady dealings. Marcus is the prince continually battling Daisy's insecurities. We learn a lot about this wonderful couple and their battles that they waged and won. This story is everything and more, Comprende! 5 Stars
