Review: Beguiling (Tempting, #2) by Alex Lucian

Beguiling (Tempting, #2)
Hate: to dislike intensely or passionately; feel extreme aversion for or extreme hostility toward.

Scarlet Jennings, the preacher’s daughter who lived across the street, was a royal, uptight pain in my ass. When she looked at me, she saw a college quarterback asshole with rocks for brains, but she didn’t have a single word for what was happening between us.

When we were forced to ride together every single day that summer, there was definitely some dislike going on. Extreme hostility was a given, considering that we were spending so much time together in close quarters.

One night of bed-breaking, body-shattering, lose-your-voice-from-screaming passion had surprised us both, but it was only just the beginning…

Beguiling is a stand-alone romantic comedy. What kept the story interesting was the comic relief.  I enjoy a good RomCom and this fit the bill.

We had previously met Leo Madsen in Tempting, book one. Leo is currently on summer break, car-less, woman-less and about to face his angry neighbor who has been recruited to drive him to his summer football workouts. Leo is not your common all-star quarterback.  He doesn't have a good track record with women and he doesn't feel like his family believes in him.

Scarlett Jennings is taking summer classes in preparation for veterinary school. She's been recruited to shuttle her neighbor Leo to and from his workouts. She hasn't been friends with Leo in years. When they started high school they separated into different cliques. Leo became the big high school quarterback and Scarlett studied hard to meet her parents high expectations.

When Leo finds Scarlett's buck-list all bets are off and Scarlett finds herself in for a sexy adventure. Scarlett discovers that she and Leo have more in common than she thought.

Beguiling made me laugh, laugh some more and there was a little angst to make it complete. 4 Stars!
