*****Review***** Random & Rare (Lock & Key #2) by Cat Porter

Random & Rare (Lock & Key, #2)

I am that gash in her soul.
Once I loved Grace, really loved her.
And she loved me, and it was so fucking beautiful.
Once.
That pendulum swings to and fro.
We’re here,
and then we’re—
No.
How can that rare beautiful be rendered irrelevant, intangible when I still feel so damn much?
Does all that energy, that glory, that significance simply dissolve?
Turn to smoke?
To nothing?
It can’t. It just can’t.
Are the moments that shape us absolutely random?
Is time not fluid?
I made promises to them, to her.
Especially to her.
Promises I still burn to keep.

'Random  & Rare' is Dig and Grace's story prior to 'Lock & Key' including a follow up on Grace and Miller. This story is full of happiness, despair, loss, redemption and forgiveness.

Dig tries his best not to corrupt Grace, he has been protecting her from a distance since her sister took a fall for the club. When Grace throws herself into Dig's arms he can no longer resist.  Their relationship drifts over the course of their first year together. "Drifting raised dust clouds though. You could easily get lost in the haze, get distracted by the debris." Dig doesn't accept that they are drifting apart and takes action. Dig is a protective Alpha male to the core, he stands by his motto 'I will either find a way or make one.'

The truth about Dig Quillen, aka Jake Pence, past is revealed and it explains why he makes certain decisions. Dig is a tragic hero who's past has dictated his future. After Dig, we resume with Grace and Miller working on a family. Grace's discovery of Dig's actions draws the their story together and provides her peace

Dig is a powerful character, he is intelligent, protective and damaged. Grace is a strong woman who must overcome the past and either find a way or make one. Cat Porter has taken us on a beautiful journey of absolution, lose and acceptance.
