*****5 Stars***** Review: Soul Rest (Knights of the Board Room #7) by Joey W. Hill

Soul Rest (Knights of the Board Room, #7)

Celeste has worked her ass off to establish her freelance blog as a source of accurate crime news for the Baton Rouge area. Being a workaholic, focusing solely on her career, was her choice. Five years ago, she had a life-changing experience in a BDSM club that made it clear she is a submissive, but she believes her past makes embracing that path impossible. Then Sergeant Leland Keller walks into her life on a crime scene. He’s the Dom she’s always feared and hoped she’d meet, and he recognizes her as what he’s been looking for as well. But she fights submission as much as she longs for it.

Leland always thought he was looking for a docile, sweet-natured sub, but the heart wants what it wants. He can tell Celeste is aching for love and surrender. Having served in the military and now as a patrol sergeant in one of Baton Rouge’s most dangerous districts, he doesn’t shy from a challenge. His job is to protect and serve. He’s not going to let her down.

'Soul Rest' is the seventh novel in the 'Knights of the Board Room' series. Celeste appears previously in a ‘Retribution’ a novella by Joey W Hill, I highly recommend reading the novella prior to reading 'Soul Rest'.  It will deepen your understanding of Celeste's journey.

Celeste is an independent reporter, she created a news blog that provides her an opportunity to be a journalist. She remains impartial and provides the facts. One evening after meeting with a source, she stops at the local market and finds herself entranced by Sergeant Leland Keller. Although Celeste is attracted to Sergeant Leland and senses that he is a Dom, she begins finding excuses not be get involved. “she considered, police, firemen, EMTs and other members of the press coworkers in a sense. She didn’t sh*t-or f*ck- where she worked.”  Leland doesn’t let Celeste hide from him. He’s upfront and calls her on her bratting.

Celeste had a difficult past, she’s learned to deal with it by closing herself off from the hurt. Leland comes from a good family and has been looking for his ‘sub', he’s no longer interested in the dating scene. Once Leland finds Celeste he won’t let her run. The characters are well developed and their story is beautifully told.  I felt a connection to Celeste, she's independent, loyal, and has a good heart. She struggles to open up by bratting and running from Leland. Leland is the perfect Dom, he draws Celeste out of her cocoon.

'Soul Rest' catches up with the other 'Knights of the Board Room' characters, including Ben O'Callahan (an essential character from 'Retribution') who weds Marcie in this story. The after party turns up the heat!  Each novel introduced us to a hot Alpha male, I fell in love each time. 'Soul Rest' is no different. Leland is my perfect Dom. He draws Celeste out from the walls she's built, "You want the type of Master who can handle all the fear and anger you're carrying inside you. Bring it to the surface, let you get past it to feel what you need to feel." Leland holds on tight to what is his but he also understands Celeste's need for independence. I didn't want the novel or this series to end, I'm still longing for more. 5 +++ Stars for touching my soul!
