****Review**** The Billionaire Bargain #2 by Lila Monroe

The Billionaire Bargain #2

It was a deal made in the boardroom and sealed in the bedroom.

It all seems so simple: pretend to be his fianceĆ©, his company share prices stabilize, and everyone wins. It’s all just for show.

So why does he keep kissing me? And why do I let him? Grant Devlin is the bane of my existence — not the man of my dreams. But now the lines are getting blurred, and between the kissing and the champagne (and did I mention the kissing?) I’m getting way too comfortable as the future Mrs Devlin.

Something’s got to give, and it better not be my self-control…

Review

The story picks-up right where it left off, Grant Devlin has proposed to Lacey and she had accepted. Lacey is overwhelmed by well wishers and unfortunately has to deal with Grant's godmother Portia. Portia is Lacey's arch nemesis.  She disapproves of Lacey because she's not from an upper class family.

Lacey doesn't even comprehend how she ended up engaged. In Grant style, he explains it's her idea. In Lacey fashion she response "In what crazy alternate universe was this my idea? Did you just beam in from the alternate universe where up is down ad Spock has a goatee and I have absolutely terrible ideas?"

The next day Lacey meets with Portia to discuss the wedding plans. Lacey tells Portia the truth about the arrangement. Portia acts as she had already know. "Given your entire lack of looks, skills, or suitable connections it as completely obvious that your nuptials were the final ingredient in some harebrained business deal cooked up by Grant in a last-ditch attempt to save the company from his own irresponsibility." Luckily, Grant shows up and whisks Lacey away to only reveal that he has had her belonging packed and moved to his place. Lacey is not happy with the move so she takes it out on the credit card she received from Grant.

On the way to their engagement party, Grant opens up about fears. He had offers to buy his families company. He choose not to sell because they had planned to break up the company and people would have lost their jobs. "Something in me knew that no matter how afraid I was, I couldn't let myself walk away."

After they escape their engagement party the run off and enjoy themselves. Although Lacey has to constantly remind herself that this is a business arrangement, she does admit to herself that she's falling for Grant. After hiding away from the world, news of a you tube video comes crashing in. Grant owns up to his mistake, but it's Portia who feels that quicker action is needed.  The ending is a nail biting cliff hanger.

Lacey is discovering the real Grant. She's falling for him and it seems he has fallen for her. Although Portia seems to be the wicked witch of the west, I wonder if she has other motives. Lacey truly wants the best for Grant and believes in him. It's up to Grant to believe in himself. The cliff hanger hurt! I can't wait for the next book.

excerpt yellow

“Would you like a taste?” Tara asked him. What did that mean? Then her breath was warm on my neck. “I'm going to touch you now.”

I jumped when her fingers dragged across the skin of my stomach. Lower, and lower. Was she going to–? Soft, delicate fingers stroked me. I tried to jerk away, but the straps kept me in place. I'd never fooled around with another woman. I could appreciate the beauty of the female body, but I never had any desire to explore anything outside of my own. I liked good, ole-fashioned sex, and knew I still had a lot to learn there. Adding women into the mix seemed overwhelming

It didn't matter. Her fingers were stirring my folds where I was shamefully wet, and the slightest of moans slipped out before I could choke it back.

She drew her hand away from in between my legs, and there was a noise I couldn't place, like a kiss. No, I figured it out. He was sucking on her fingers.

“Does she taste good?” Tara asked. Heat poured through my body.

“I'd like to drink straight from the tap,” he said. Oh god. Oh my god.

“There's a fee for that, but I'll waive it if we reach a deal.” I assumed that was acceptable to him because Tara again leaned over me and whispered in my ear. “Slide down near the edge of the table, and enjoy.” She sounded envious.

I did as asked, my trembling body gliding over the leather. When I was down far enough and my feet dangled awkwardly over the side, Tara's warm hand closed around an ankle and lifted it, setting my foot on the flat surface of the tabletop so my toes curled over the edge. She guided the other ankle so I was laid out before him, my knees bent up in the air. Sliding down had also forced my arms to be bent up by my head.

The pads of his fingers were cold when they touched the inside of my knee and gently urged it to the side, opening me to him. My bottom lip quivered. No, my whole body quivered. The fingers dragged across the inside of my thigh until they reached the hollow where my legs joined my body. I wanted him to say something. I wanted him to—

“Fuck,” he said in a low, deep voice when his finger brushed over me where only a few men, and now Tara, had touched me, making me shudder. “You're so wet.”

His touch was gone and replaced by warm air as his mouth hovered over my sensitive flesh. He kissed the hollow there, then just above my slit, then the inside of my thigh on the other side. Teasing me. Delicious anticipation grew and strangled my breath.

I bucked hard on the table when his tongue grazed me. One of his large, cold hands clamped down on a hip to hold me in place. The sensation wasn't like anything I'd felt before. The blindfold focused everything on the pleasure that was spreading outward through my body from his indecent kiss. He licked me again, starting at the bottom of my entrance and all the way up to my clit.

“Oh my god,” I said out loud, and then went wooden. I wasn't supposed to speak until spoken to, according to the contract.

“You like that?” He didn't wait for me to answer, he just did it again. And again. The beginning of an orgasm developed off in the distance and then was right upon me when he eased a finger where I was soaking wet.

“She’s yours for twenty thousand,” Tara said.

Review

Evelyn is a graphic designer who made a very big, sloppy mistake.  In order to correct the mistake, she will need her boss to agree to let her pay for the replacements that cost ninety-six hundred dollars. Evelyn decides to ask her friend Payton for help. Previously, Payton had suggested several times to Evelyn that she try working at an exclusive blindfold club, however she turned her down until now. Evelyn has no choice but to sell herself for one night or lose her dream job.  Unbeknownst to Evelyn, she sells herself to her boss, Logan.  Evelyn finds herself completely smitten with Logan.  He’s very dominate, “This feral, alpha-male version of Logan was scary and thrilling and I was drawn to it. Eager to submit.”

However she has a few obstacles to overcome.
  • What to do about her close friend Blake? He confessed that he loves her.
  • Logan didn’t want to define his relationship with Evelyn. Evelyn didn’t just have sex without a relationship.
  • What to do about work? Logan is her boss, she wants to promote but doesn’t want it to appear to be favoritism.

Logan also had several obstacles in his way.
  • His ex-girlfriend left him with baggage.  He had a difficult time compromising. He didn’t want a relationship.
  • After splitting up with his girlfriend of twelve years, he had cut her out completely.  He still needed closure.
  • He had hidden a few lies that needed to be revealed in order to move on.
  • He also needed to deal with not losing his job or credibility.
There is a lot of substance in this story.  It’s not just all about the HOT, SO HOT, steamy scenes.  Evelyn has to deal with several issues, at the same time that she’s developing a relationship with Logan. They had to learn how to compromise, develop trust and be able to forgive, while hiding their relationship from coworkers. The defining point in their relationship takes place when it begins to unravel. That’s when Evelyn discovers that “He was willing to give everything up for me, and I know I’d give everything up for him, if I had to.” This story is STEAMY! I loved every page. At the end there’s a cliff hanger that segues into Payton’s story.  I can’t WAIT!!!

~~Blog Tour~~ Exposed by Jessica Love

Exposed

“Exposed” is a short, erotic suspense novel. After her husband suggests visiting a club where public sex and the erotic are common, Jessica explores sex with strangers in sex clubs where menage and other erotica taboos are acceptable behavior.
But there is more to Jessica than just sex. After she defends in court a girl accused of importing drugs, Jessica becomes the target of someone who wants her dead.
Eventually, the themes of this contemporary suspense, romance and sex novel come together when Jessica learns who she really is, finds her attackers and gets her revenge. “Exposed” describes how Jessica became the directing force of her own life, how she leaves condemnation behind, and separates sex and romance.
In her own words:
"You don't think we've met? We have, more than once. I sat next to you once at the airport, and you asked me what time it was. I hoped you wanted to strike up a conversation. We sat at tables next to each other at that coffee shop on the corner, where the atmosphere and coffee both have character.
Remember when I caught you staring at me when I came out of the court house? Or was it the exquisite old building where I practice law? You were embarrassed, but I didn’t mind at all. In fact, you made me smile.
Maybe we met at one of the “special clubs” I enjoy in Seattle, or Portland, or Vancouver or San Francisco, Denver or Las Vegas. You know, clubs where clothing is optional and anything goes, with friends or with strangers. I admit I like that, but “no” always means “NO.”

I’ve been told I am as cold as the antarctic, or as hot as a black sand beach in the Caribbean; it’s said I am either indifferent, or too passionately engaged. These are labels and don’t really matter to me any more. I’ve been called a slut, a force, a lawyer, a nymphomaniac. You decide which one was the insult if you'd like, I don’t really care.
This book is about who I am and why I’m that way. I describe a few events in a story you will think explains everything. It does not, but will give you an idea of how I grew up, how I discovered sex, what I like about men and what I don’t, how close I came to being murdered and how that led to my discovery of who I really am.
Sometimes, when explanations fail, story is all we have. And though my story may be very different from yours, you and I are very much alike in that place where we hide our desire."

Excerpt

From "Exposed by Jessica Love."

When I turned my head sideways, Rick’s face was about six inches from mine.
“May I kiss you?” he asked, his voice husky with lust. “Please?” I asked back. So very gently, he brushed his lips against mine, held them there. I could smell the gin and tonic he’d been drinking, clean and fresh. I reached over and put my right hand on the back of his head so he wouldn’t pull away. I put my left hand on the side of his face.
The kiss lingered.
It was so strange. I’d been with a number of men since the implosion of my marriage. Not once had I kissed or been kissed as tenderly as I was at that moment, nearly naked on top of a bar in a room full of men and women, mostly men.
“Oh my,” he said when we broke to look at each other. “Oh my,” I agreed. “William?” I asked, I didn’t need to elaborate and when I lifted my hips, William slid his hands under my butt to take the top of my thong down, smoothly over my knees. I straightened my legs so the wisp of fabric could be pulled over my shoes.
I kept my thighs together, but extended my left foot so my body was completely visible to the room, which had become quite silent except for the last notes of another song spun by the DJ who was catering to the dancers on the floor below.
Paul put his lips on my hip bone, then closer to the V between my legs.
“Paul.” I said it gently, but with a hint of command. He stopped instantly and looked at me. “I’d like your fingertips from here,” I pointed at my left breast, “to here,” and pointed at my pelvis. He smiled into my eyes and nodded.
“William, I’d like you to work up from the other direction. As gently as you can.”
The two of them touched me like they were enjoying the touch of velvet, back and forth, up and down. I kept my thighs together and neither tried to enter me. Paul stroked the outside of my breasts, the under curve, my nipples ached when he brushed them and then down to my belly.
I reached over to Rick and said, “I need you right here,” and drew his mouth to mine. Once again the gentleness of his lips astounded me. But now I wanted something a little more. I opened my mouth, which caused him to open his. I timed my exhale to his inhale, and he knew exactly what I wanted and pulled my breath into his mouth.
When I was empty, his/my warm breath returned to me and filled my lungs. We were able to keep that rhythm for five full breaths before what we were sharing was depleted of oxygen.
“Oh my,” I said with my first full breath of fresh air. “Oh my,” he exhaled. “Touch me,” I said with something between a request and command. His fingertip went to my right breast and he circled my nipple. William’s hand was at my hips.
I couldn’t stop the moan from my throat or my hips from rising from the bar. But my thighs stayed together. Ricks fingertip went from my breast to my collarbone, then my neck, my throat. When it came to my cheek I turned my head and took it into my mouth with more hunger than I had felt in years.
Eventually, Rick’s fingers found more of me welcoming him. Paul and William changed chairs a couple of times. The experience lasted for a long, long while; the DJ spun many songs; many people came close to watch, left, were replaced by others. I gave as good as I got, and what I got was very, very good.

Review

Exposed is written as a autobiography of a woman who must find her place.  It's not a love story but a story of discovery and acceptance.

"I'm writing this because I've been asked so often why I'm not married, why I do what I do, how I started and what does it "mean" even though that last question is pretty meaningless."

Jessica Love, our protagonist and narrator, begins her story with early life events. In high school she learns an unfortunate lesson and her grandmother is there to provide solace. We are introduced to the reoccurring phrase that shaped who Jessica would become.

"Everything passes, everything weary, everything breaks.."

Jessica shares two experiences that give us a glimpse of what makes her tick. What some may say are her perversions.

Jessica graduates college as a lawyer and marries Mark who is also a lawyer.  They seem to marry because it was expected of them and not because they truly love each other.  Their lives became routine. Mark suggests a club that caters to different sexual proclivities.  They attend and enjoy the exhibitionism.  Soon they take it a step further that initiates the destruction of their marriage. Jessica's eventually moves on with her life to only find her freedom being taken from her. Although, Jessica gives us hints of possible future events I continue to be surprised when they occur.  I feel for Jessica and her plight to find her place.  When in France she meets her great uncle and aunt who furnish her with the ending of the phrase that has shaped her life.

"Everything passes, everything weary, everything breaks everything must find its place."

Jessica returns home and moves forward to take back her life. In the end Jessica Love explains that some may judge her but she has simply made different decision.

Jessica is a strong character that has to learn to accept herself. She has different tastes and finds herself taking on the world from an early age. From the beginning she attends high school and college parties allowing herself sexual gratification that many find taboo, labeling her as a slut. She deviates temporarily when she marries however that does not last long. Her proclivities are used against her and inadvertently take away her freedom.  In the end she finds herself with her grandmother's help.  Her grandmother early on makes a statement that sums up Jessica's challenges, "These Americans, obsessed by what they fear, fearing their own obsessions,". I enjoyed that this is not a love story, it's an exploration and acceptance of a different lifestyle.

*****Review***** The Mistletoe Melody (A Brookhollow Story #4) by Jennifer Snow

The Mistletoe Melody (A Brookhollow Story, #4)

'Tis the season of forgiveness…but can she ever forget?

Brad Monroe was truly unbelievable. Blowing back into Brookhollow for three days to film a Christmas special—three years after the accident that killed his best friend…her husband—and expecting Melody to be civil? Please. He'd been the only one who'd survived the tragedy, hightailing it to Nashville and hijacking her dream…Patrick's dream. She'd spent that time grieving, working three jobs, struggling to raise her boys and keep a roof over their heads. Now she was losing ground on all fronts, and not about to forgive and forget. Or give him the one thing that could save them all….

Review

Melody Myers is a single mom of twin eight year old boys, Josh and David. It's been three years since her husband, Patrick, passed away in a car accident. Melody has been working three jobs to pay the bills however she's falling behind.  Melody has finished up a three-month management-trainee program for 'Play Hard'. She has to pass the final test in order to promote and quit two of her jobs so she can spend more time with her sons. Along time ago she bigger dreams of a career in country music, which have faded away.

Brad Monroe, aka Brad Jackson, had left Brookhollow right after the car accident that took away his friend Patrick's life. He went on to be a famous county music singers who was chasing after an elusive #1 hit.  Brad's publicist had booked him a spot on 'Home for the Holidays', which meant he would return home after a three year absence and have to face his past.

Melody had a very bad day, she received a foreclosure letter and she had to leave her management test before she finished because her son was suspended.  To make matters worse that same evening Brad appears at her job, the man who was driving the car that ended her husband's life.

Brad tries his best to befriend Melody. Melody is unwilling to budge. She's sure that Brad was in town to only advance his career.

"This show, all of this local promotion crap, all you care about is yourself and your career. I bet you're not even planning to spend the holidays with your family. I bet you've never once considered helping out the tree farm, giving Troy a break during the busiest month of the year, instead of just showing up and making more work for them."

Brad decides to stay because it's the right thing to do and soon discovers Melody has been hiding her financial struggles. He wants to help Melody because he feels responsible for her situation and also because he's falling in love with her. Brad offers to take her to Nashville and she can stay with him so she can pursue her dreams. Melody declines because she boys come first and their history. She doesn't want to dishonor her late husband.

Melody is able to pay her overdue mortgage by selling her beloved microphone that was a gift from her late husband. The money also afforded her to buy her sons Christmas presents, which made up for any remorse. Before Brad left to Nashville, he dropped off gifts for Melody and her sons. After Melody opens her gift and finds a expensive, matching pair of gloves, she takes her first step at forgiving Brad.

This is a heart-warming story about two individuals who both lost the person they loved. Melody struggles to move forward leaving her and Brad's history behind. The past has been keeping her from true happiness, a music career and Brad. Brad needs the courage to return to the town he ran from. He suffers from survivors guilt however he continues to move on with his life. When Brad and Melody come together it evokes all types of emotions; anger, fear, resentment, and finally love. I really, really enjoyed this uplifting story. I cried, laughed and smiled. Jennifer Snow has done a wonderful job bringing us hope that no matter how difficult or challenging the past maybe, life can move forward it you give it a chance.  ***** 5 Leaving The Past Behind Stars *****

Review: The Consequences of Sin by K.A. Robinson

The Consequences of Sin

When the sun disappeared, the world was cast in shadows, hiding the evil that lay in wait. When it was dark, I hunted. The shadows caressed my body as I did things I could never do in the light of day.

Eighteen-year-old Bree Bowen has spent her entire life training and working as one of her father’s assassins. Fear has kept her and her best friend, Wes, under her father’s thumb—until now.

When Wes takes matters into his own hands, securing Bree a new identity and a plane ticket to America, he gives her the one chance she’s been desperately seeking.

Learning to live a new life isn’t easy. Add in her new roommate, Reid, who just happens to be a stripper, and things start to get a little crazy. Falling for a man has never been part of her plan, but she can’t seem to stay away from Reid.
When Bree’s past comes crashing back into her life, secrets that she’s fought to keep hidden are revealed, and she’s forced to choose between Reid and the life she could have with him, or Wes, the one man who has always loved her unconditionally.

Regardless of her choice, she must learn the consequences of sin.

This book will be a standalone.

Bree Bowen, born and raised in England as a Mafia assassin.  Her father, Oliver, is the second command of one of England's largest Mafia families. Bree never left the mansion where she lived, unless she was going on an assignment. She was raised along side with her best friend, protector and trained assassin, Wesley. Bree wants out of the life, she want to live a normal life, however her father has other plans. Oliver will be giving Bree to the Irish Mafia to create an alliance.

"I hated myself for a lot of things. Maybe I deserved the life I was going to receive. It would be retribution for my sins."

Wesley, who sworn to take care of Bree, plans her escape. He sends her to NYC with a new identity as Bree Reynolds. From NYC, Bree randomly chooses to go to Dallas, Texas to begin her new life.

"Then, go now. Run while you can. I can still save you, but if he takes you, there's nothing I can do. This is your one chance at freedom. You can forget everything and start fresh. You can let your past go and have an actual life."

Before Bree leaves Oliver confesses his true feelings. He's love Bree and will always protect her.

When Bree arrives in Dallas she finds an advertisement for a roommate. She goes to checkout the apartment and meets Reid. He agrees to have her as his roommate with conditions. Reid and Bree are both attracted to each other and soon sparks fly.

Bree begins to feel free. It doesn't last for long before her father, Bradley and Wesley find her and attempt to take her back to England. Unfortunately, Reid walks into Bree's room at the wrong time and discovers Bree's true identity.

Bree, with Wesley's assistance is able to escape from her father. She returns to Reid because he's now in danger.  Bree tells Reid the truth about her life in England, what she and Wesley did to survive and her regrets.

"There's always consequences of sin, Bree-always. You're dealing with yours now, and Wes will eventually have to deal wit his."

Oliver finds Bree and Wesley once again.  This time he makes a grave mistake and get what he deserves.
In the end it's Bree doesn't have to choose between Wesley and Reid. The decision is made for her.

This story isn't dark, it's a story about being freed from the dark.  Bree is only eighteen years old and had lived a long life. She has a chance at freedom and takes it. She begins to discover herself along the way, while learning to cope with her past. Unlike the other assassins she left behind, Bree was not a cold-hearted killer. Reid is a great character.  Although he's a stripper, he has real ambitions. He also learn from his experience and will no longer take the small things for granted. I enjoyed this story! I hope Wesley gets his own story. He's was surprisingly the dark anti-hero in the end. I almost expected a menage with the three of them. (Yes, I need to get my mind out of the gutter.) K.A. Robinson does not disappoint.

This is Tug and Blaze's story.

Tug is prospecting for the Ravage MC. He was previously in the military. When he completed his service he couldn't go back to the family that rejected him, even after he had saved them. So he found a new one, his future brothers of the Ravage MC.

Paige McMillion, aka Taryn 'Blaze' McKnight, is running from her past. Her Aunt directed her to Club 'X'. Princess immediately took her in, helped her with a new identity and a job as a stripper. Blaze was always on high alert that her past could catch up with her. She played it safe and did not get involved in a relationship, just in case she had to leave her current life behind. Blaze vowed to especially stay away from the men of the Ravage MC.

"That kind of man reminded me of my old life and I had just left one bad situation. I sure as hell didn't need another. I made a vow then to keep to myself and stay away from them."

Tug finds himself drawn to Blaze. He spends months watching her and flirting. He finally decides to go after what he wants. Blaze has other ideas.

"Having anyone slash through my layers is a bad thing. They don't know what the hell they'll get themselves into inside there. Sure I've managed over the years, but even I know there is some deep sh*t that can't be fixed no matter what I do."

Blaze continues to fight her feeling for Tug, until one night when Blaze was stripping and a customer rushed the stage. Blaze was able to defend herself but later she fell apart in Tugs arms. Blaze let her walls down and let Tug in. Tug claims her if she likes it or not.

Tug receives a phone call from his mother that his sister had a car accident. Tug rushes to the hospital and stays with his mom until he find out his sister is going to be okay. His mom extends an olive branch by inviting him to dinner. Tug accepts and is hopeful.

Blaze's past finally catches up with her after years in hiding. Blaze finds a note on her car. "We've missed you Paige. - S&F".  Her step father and step brother have found her. In order to get her help Tug reveals her past to their President, Pops. Blaze is embarrassed and is not comfortable revealing or reliving her past. She blames herself for not attending her mother's funeral.

Tug is finally made a full member and welcomed to the club. He turns in his Prospect rag and is given his Ravage one. That evening he celebrates with Blaze up against the door, on the bed, you get the idea.

Things don't stay quiet long. Blazes past once again rears it's ugly head and not only is Blaze in danger but so is the club. Tug continues to promise to protect her along with the club. She's family and that's what they do.

Tug past haunts him but never consumes him, it's his feelings for Blaze that eventually consume him. Blaze, on the other hand, is running from her past. She had been raped and physically hurt by Santos and his son Frank. They were suppose to be her family. Blaze is a very strong character, she doesn't wallow in self-pity. She picked herself up and escaped. She worked hard, got her education, and saved for a rainy day. It took a lot of courage for her to open up and trust Tug. There is a lot internal turmoil that is resolved for both Tug and Blaze allowing them to happily come together. I love the Ravage MC series. I cannot wait for the next book!
